Intro to Handstands

Service Description

Explore new possibilities with your body in this playful introduction to the physical and mental practice of handstands. You'll learn how to get your feet in the air in a way that's safe and fun. This master class will introduce you to the strength, coordination, body awareness, and mental focus you need to get into a handstand, stay in a handstand, and eventually balance it on your own. Perfect for anyone curious about handstands—no experience required! Megan has performed circus professionally since 2007, working primarily in handbalancing and trapeze. She’s shared her work at the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, the Golden Karl international circus festival in Latvia, and the Daidogei World Cup in Japan, and with ensembles including LAVA, Alter Circus, Big Teeth, and Acrobatic Conundrum. She is a 2012 graduate of the New England Center for Circus Arts’ ProTrack program. Most recently she directed WEBS: A Circus about Healing from Sexualized Violence. Megan has taught handbalancing, trapeze, acrobatics, act creation, and more to youth and adults since 2008, at LAVA and the Espana-Streb Trapeze Academy in NYC, NECCA in Vermont, where she coached the Pro-Track professional training students, and at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts and Circadium, Philly's 3-year professional training program.
